Music

I am currently playing Bass in both a Classic Rock band, and a Swing/ Folk band. I play a variety of different styles including blues, country, rock, raggae, swing, and folk, on the bass and six-string guitar.

Computer Programming

I am just starting to get into programming. I just got my first computer in October '95 (What took me so long?). There is so much to learn, but it is FUN. Please E-mail me if you have any advice on what I should focus my studies on; I want to change careers ( I am currently a Transmission Technician), but am a-bit overwhelmed by all there is to know about the computer industry. I am now studying Visual Basic (I just got VB 4.0pro; What a blast!!), Java, and Visual C++. I have been generating some pretty cool, (but pathetically simple) applications in Visual Basic, but, hey, you have to start somewhere. I want to figure out how to do some of these CGI scripts that I see on the web, but, as of yet, have not had any time to study subject.
Please let me know the titles of any of your favorite programming books, or other resources; Point me in the right direction! Any suggestions?

Wood Working

I have a wood shop setup at home that is fairly complete. I have made the oak furniture that is in my house. It is a very satisfying to make things from wood.

Metal working

I have been working with metal ever since I can remember. Anything from welding and fabrication to machine work (lathe and mill work).

Upholstery

I just finished the seats in my boat. Now it is time to make a new soft top, and recover the seats in my Landcruiser. This is a new hobbie for me (as if I did not have enough to keep me busy!!), and I am really enjoying it.
