Many People Ask: Why Did I Create This Page?
I created this page in order to gain a better understanding of how the Internet works. I had been hearing much about the Internet, but did not know much about computers, and had no idea what "The Internet" really was. I have been a professional transmission rebuilder since 1984, and owned my own transmission shop for 7 of those years. In addition to transmissions, I also restore older cars, in my "Home shop", doing nearly every phase of the restoration myselft, such as engine, transmission, differential, front-end, brakes, electrical, paint & autobody, welding & fabrication, machine work, as well as upholstery. I have found that although I love restoring cars, I am getting to the point of "total burnout", working on "daily drivers", because in this fast-paced world, it is nearly impossible to repair vehicles and maintain the level of quality I prefer to perform. As a result, although I will probably never quit working on mechanical "things", I began looking to retrain myself for another line of work, turning to computers (I had never touched a computer before October of '95) because I felt that this was a field with unlimited possibilities, and a constant state of change, that would keep me stimulated. My studies are "focused" (I am not sure "focused" is an accurate word here...) on programming, in addition to network setup. I am hoping to train myself to be able to handle the needs of most small businesses, setting up small networks, programming a custom database programs to fit their needs, etc. In addition to studying Visual Basic (I have 6.0 Professional), I am studying to be a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), and spend a lot of time studying the various aspects of programs related to business, like Microsoft Office, etc. I am not looking for a job offer, in the transmission business (I thank the many people who have offered me a job building transmissions, however), I am not looking to drum up more transmission work for the shop that I work for, and I am not looking for more "side work" at home (again, I thank the many people who have mentioned taking their vehicle to me for repairs). With all of this information that I am attempting to learn, I have little time for questions, but I will try to answer e-mail, when I can. I will, of course, answer any e-mail questions asked by people who have sent donations.
